-Hey Deb,
just got up to Kelly's chapter. What an accomplishment. Your book really covers a massive amount of ground. More scope than I've seen anywhere else. And I'm only 1/2 way. Way to go. J.B.
-Went to the book launch last weekend and now I'm half-way through and I can't imagine you (Deb) having to interview all those people and write/edit their stories. That's tough to get through.
But such important stories they have to tell!! Very moving and such different experiences and how they reacted to their experiences is interesting and useful information for others to relate to and help them on their healing journey.
I hope it gets reviewed in all the major papers, TV, radio and gets the attention it deserves!
All that I can wish for others is that you CAN choose to heal, forgive and move on and life gets SO much better. Don't stay stuck, get help to live the rewarding happy lives we all deserve.
Therapy works -that's why I have fingernails (stopped in my 40s).
-Just finished the book. I identified with something from every chapter, poem. interview. Thank you so much for channeling all our voices and making us realize that all those "scratchy" uncomfortable sounds together combine into one beautiful symphony of hope, love, and transformation. If there is anything I can do to help you, just let me know and I'll be there. God Bless Deb
-Came across another gem today in Deb Maybury's "Unlock the Door: Beyond Sexual Abuse"
..... "Don't let the abuser win. The abuser has moved on and is doing whatever the heck he she is doing. People who stay home by themselves and relive the abuse day after day have taken over abusing themselves."
That may sound a little rough, but having spent almost 35 years of my life doing that, I can attest that with openness comes freedom. Jean-Paul
-Wow... Another fantastic quotation from Deb Maybury's "Unlock the Door: Beyond Sexual Abuse.
This is the best parental advice I ever heard regarding protecting our children from sexual abuse:
"It's not the stranger.... it's the strange behaviour you need to be aware of that can be from a parent, sibling, or uncle Bob. It can be anybody."
THANK YOU!
