I just arrived home, via the cycling path and bike lanes, after facilitating a group of people who were each sexually victimized as children. The journey is long. An offender can move on, a child remains stuck in a time- warp.
How do we cope, how do we rationalize the actions of someone we, typically, trusted? We act out, we suppress, we deny, we struggle. We each find our own way to survive.
I have learned that healing often sprinkles itself lightly and too slowly for our eagerness and desperation. So, remain patient and gentle with your self as you move into the milky waters.
Know that, healing can often be found in the bonds we form with those who have been where we continue to tread in our minds.
For those with someone going through this journey, you do not need to have the answers, just the ears.
