Originally I thought it would take a year to finish Unlock the Door. I figured I'd have 20-25 people participating and 180 to 220 pages of interesting and informative literature. Then it began and evolved. Even as I stop seeking submissions, requests to participate continue to arrive. Now, as I work on the final touches, I realize what I am holding in my hands.
Unlock the Door will be closer to 400 pages than 200, there are almost 40 people who shared their experiences and I am six months over my original finishing date. Also, I am incredibly humbled by the number of people who have supported me and who are biting at my heals to see the final product. There is no one, more than I, who seeks the next phase of this book. Believe me!
Today I as usual, I am working and focusing on finishing. I am recovering from some mysterious illness-called exhaustion-that hit me last week. It was a reminder that some things take time rather than effort.
I just saw a cyclist heading toward the Lakeshore and felt a little twist inside. I have a date with myself to sit at the waterfront today. This week I re-establish my fitness routine. I miss that life. The one that turned into full-time editing in 2013.
I was encouraged Friday night, by Dr. John Demartini. He has a chapter in the book and smiled like a little kid when he saw me. "How's the book, are you done? I have the release form upstairs." I was disappointed because I wanted to hand him the manuscript and half of the book was with the (final) editor. He said not to feel bad because his books go through five edits. He said he was really exited to see it and proud of me for the work I was doing. Five edits? That makes seven seem reasonable, I guess? Regardless, he made my day.
I was hoping for a launch date in April, however I have decided the end of May is more realistic and less stressful. I will post a date when I have the final manuscript in my hands. That will be very soon. I am still hoping I will have the proof book to take to the sexual abuse conference on April 23 in Toronto.
Today the book is officially for sale- here!
But only for people that will get it at the May launch or from me in person.
Now that is exciting!
